Went to my daughters house in Birkenshaw last night. Parking the car in the drive and my eye was caught to a small brown butterfly on the house wall.
Amazingly the butterfly was a very worn White-letter Hairstreak..
Now there was an report a good number of years ago of someone seeing a WLH on an Elm tree at Raw Nook NR.
I have since searched and searched over the years for this uncommon elusive butterfly at Raw Nook NR but to no avail….but this sighting…well it’s given me renewed optimism.
